Hi! I do design research, social practice, mapping, workshop protocols. I am an associate researcher at Sciences Po's médialab and an associate artist at the cultural co-operative CUESTA. On this website you will find traces, work documents and outputs related to some recent projects, in their original language (French or English) depending on where they took place. My practice consists mostly in creating live situations so it does not look too good on a website.

ENERGY-SCENARIOS

Interventions on Energy Scenarios

The word scénario, in French, means both "screenplay", the written actions and dialogues of a movie, and "scenario", the description of future events or situations that could potentially become real, with varying degrees of uncertainty, depending on actions to be undertaken. In policy development, scenarios are produced and used to represent societal issues like climate change, geopolitics, or energy challenges. They lay out plans for change and innovation. They take the form of diagrams, data visualisations or narratives. Simplified versions of desired or dreaded futures.

Yet not everybody seems to agree on them : whose plan ? At which scale ? What data is the projection based upon ? Who/what plays a part ? Who/what is left out ? Etc. Like screenplays, scenarios map out roles, actions and scenes, yet they tend to downplay the political nature of the choices to be made.

Scenarios are the material and format we collectively worked upon with 12 students from the Franco-Dutch Young Talents programme during a one-month process, as a method to fast-track both the students' empowerment vis-à-vis energy experts, and the production of alternative diagrams and narratives deploying current controversies around the politics of energy.

The workshops' results were restituted during the Erasme-Descartes conference on November 15, 2019.

The event was organised by the French embassy in the Netherlands, the Dutch embassy in France, RFN and NUFFIC.
